SaySet is a voice-guided interval timer for iPhone. Below are answers to the most common questions. If yours is not here, email me and I will help.
Get in touch
Questions, bugs or feedback. I read every message and usually reply within a couple of days.
Voice and sound
The voice sounds robotic. Can I improve it?
SaySet uses the voices built into iOS. Download a better one in iOS Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices, choosing an Enhanced or Premium voice. Then pick it in SaySet's voice settings, where you can also change rate, pitch and volume.
Will it keep talking when the screen is locked?
Yes. Sessions run with the screen locked, and a Live Activity shows progress on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
Workouts
Can I make my own exercises?
Yes, with no limit and no subscription. Build intervals that are timed, rep-based or holds. A rep interval waits for your tap instead of guessing how fast you work.
I started a workout by accident.
Discard it before finishing and nothing is recorded anywhere, including Apple Health.
Heart rate and Apple Health
How do I connect a heart rate strap?
Any Bluetooth chest strap or armband that supports the standard Heart Rate Service works. Allow Bluetooth when SaySet asks, then choose the strap in the heart rate settings. SaySet can also read heart rate that another device already writes to Apple Health.
What does SaySet write to Apple Health?
Workouts, active energy and heart rate samples, and only after you approve a finished session in the review screen, unless you have turned on automatic sync. Reading is separate: SaySet can read heart rate, resting heart rate, VO2 max, body mass and workouts to show your data and targets.
How do I change Health permissions?
Open iOS Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › SaySet.
Data and devices
Does my data sync between devices?
SaySet stores your workouts and history in your private iCloud (CloudKit) when you are signed in to iCloud. We cannot see it.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone only, on iOS 26 or later.
